Definitive is a multichain onchain trading terminal supporting TWAP, limit, stop, and market orders across 9 chains with gasless execution and institutional wallet support. Jupiter is Solana's leading DEX aggregator offering best-price routing and limit orders. If you need cross-chain execution and institutional infrastructure, Definitive is the stronger choice. If you trade exclusively on Solana and want free aggregation, Jupiter works well.
Jupiter is the dominant aggregator on Solana — deep liquidity, low fees, and a clean interface. But it's a Solana-first tool with limited order sophistication. Definitive operates across 9 chains with full order type support, privacy features, institutional wallet integration, and gasless trading. For traders who operate beyond Solana or need more than a simple swap, Definitive is the more complete platform.

Definitive is an onchain trading terminal built by Coinbase Institutional Trading alumni. It was designed for professional traders, HNWIs, DeFi hedge funds, DAO treasuries, and institutions who need more than basic swap functionality. Definitive routes orders across 100+ DEXs and 15+ offchain private market makers, sponsors gas fees on behalf of traders, and provides post-trade reporting with PnL tracking. It integrates with Fireblocks, Fordefi, Safe, and Squads, making it compatible with institutional custody setups.
Jupiter is Solana's largest DEX aggregator, processing billions in monthly volume. It aggregates liquidity across Solana DEXs to find the best execution price for swaps. Jupiter also offers limit orders, a DCA (dollar-cost averaging) feature, and a perpetuals product. It is well-regarded for its user experience, speed, and Solana ecosystem integration. Its fee model is minimal — 2 bps on most swaps plus a surplus share mechanism where Jupiter captures a portion of any price improvement over the quoted rate.
Both platforms are serious, production-grade tools used by active traders. The key distinction is scope: Jupiter is a deep, focused Solana aggregator; Definitive is a multichain execution platform built for institutional-grade workflows.
Order type support is where the platforms diverge most clearly.
Jupiter order types:
Definitive order types:
Definitive's TWAP implementation is particularly relevant for large traders. Executing a large position through a single market order can cause significant slippage. TWAP breaks the order into smaller slices executed over a defined time window, reducing market impact. This is standard practice in institutional trading and is not available on Jupiter.
On execution quality, both platforms use smart order routing. Jupiter's routing is Solana-specific and highly optimized for Solana's AMM landscape. Definitive routes across 100+ DEXs and 15+ offchain private market makers (PMMs) across 9 chains, giving access to additional liquidity that on-chain DEX aggregation alone cannot access.
Definitive also routes through PMMs, which are professional market makers who provide quotes off-chain and settle on-chain. This is similar to how CoWSwap's solver mechanism works — the order fills at the best available price from a broader competitive set, not just on-chain AMM pools. For large orders, this additional liquidity source can meaningfully improve execution.
Onchain stop-loss and take-profit orders on Definitive execute automatically based on price conditions without requiring the trader to be present. Jupiter does not currently offer native stop-loss orders.
This is the starkest difference between the two platforms.
Jupiter operates exclusively on Solana. Its aggregation, limit orders, DCA, and perpetuals are all Solana-native. This is not a limitation for traders who trade primarily on Solana — Jupiter's Solana execution is among the best available.
Definitive supports 9 chains: Base, Arbitrum, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB Chain, HyperEVM, and Solana. Traders who hold positions across multiple chains, manage DAO treasuries on Ethereum, or run funds with exposure to Base and Arbitrum DeFi ecosystems need a platform that operates across all of them.
For institutions and funds with diversified onchain exposure, Jupiter's single-chain scope is a meaningful constraint. Definitive provides a unified interface for execution across all supported chains, with consistent order types and reporting regardless of which chain the trade settles on.

Jupiter's 2 bps fee is low by industry standards. However, the surplus share component means that if Jupiter routes your order to a better price than quoted, it keeps a portion of that improvement. This is a structurally different fee model from a flat bps charge — the actual cost depends on execution conditions.
Definitive charges zero fees on major tokens and stablecoins on Ethereum, Base, Solana, and Arbitrum. For other assets, fees range from 85 bps at the base tier down to 25 bps at the top tier (T1) with staked EDGE tokens. Definitive also sponsors gas fees, which eliminates the additional cost of gas that Jupiter users pay directly on Solana.
For high-volume traders, Definitive's volume-based tier structure rewards scale. The 30-day rolling volume threshold for T1 pricing with staked EDGE brings the fee on non-major assets to 25 bps — competitive with or better than most alternatives in the market. For majors and stablecoins, Definitive is simply free.
It's also worth noting that gasless trading on Definitive removes a cost that traders on most other platforms pay separately. On Solana, transaction fees are low but still present. On Ethereum and Arbitrum, gas costs can be significant for complex order types.

The platforms are not in direct competition for most use cases. Traders who use Definitive for multichain institutional execution may still use Jupiter when they specifically need deep Solana liquidity for a Solana-native asset. For everything else — cross-chain, large orders, institutional workflows — Definitive is the better fit.
Yes. Definitive supports Solana alongside Base, Arbitrum, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB Chain, and HyperEVM. Solana is one of nine supported chains.
No. Jupiter does not offer TWAP orders. TWAP execution is available on Definitive across all supported chains, including Solana. TWAP is particularly useful for large orders where a single market order would cause significant slippage.
Jupiter's surplus share mechanism captures a portion of any positive price improvement above the quoted swap rate. This means the effective cost of a Jupiter trade can be slightly higher than the stated 2 bps if Jupiter achieves better pricing than expected.
Yes. Definitive integrates with Fireblocks, Fordefi, Safe, and Squads, in addition to any standard EOA wallet. This makes it compatible with institutional custody setups that Jupiter does not natively support.
Yes. Many traders use multiple platforms. If you primarily trade on Solana and want Jupiter's Solana-specific liquidity depth, it remains useful. For cross-chain execution, large orders requiring TWAP, or institutional workflows, Definitive is the appropriate tool.
For assets outside majors and stablecoins, Definitive charges 85 bps at the base tier (T5), decreasing to 25 bps at T1 with staked EDGE tokens. Tiers are based on 30-day rolling volume.
